  • Recruitment of overseas nurses and midwives

Nurses and midwives who have trained outside the EEA (European Economic Area) and want to work in the UK as a nurse or midwife must gain professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Applicants are tested for competence through a two-part process to gain registration. Part one - computer-based multiple-choice examination which is accessible around the world for applicants to access in their home countries. Part two - practical objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) which will always be held in the UK. The immigration rules changed in March 2015 to allow for an individual nurse to come to the UK to prepare for the OSCE. http://www.nhsemployers.org/your-workforce/recruit/employer-led-recruitment/international-recruitment/immigration-rules-and-the-points-based-system/overseas-nurses-and-midwives

  • Preparation Programme for the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council Registration Tests

This course introduces students to the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) domains of practice, which are both generic and field specific (Adult Nursing) embracing professional values, communication and interpersonal skills, nursing practice and decision making along with leadership, management and team working. This is a preparatory programme to guide students in advance of taking the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council registration tests. Applicants and students must understand the requirement to leave the UK at the end of the course and that there is no guarantee of later obtaining a UK work visa from overseas.
